The Australian Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources looks after the overall growth of the Australian economy. In 2011, Australia grossed a total of $237,192,249,912 in exports alone. Manufacturing,
finance, ship building, information and technology, agricultural,
mining, insurance, aviation and telecommunications industry are just some of the major industries that help to support Australia's economy. It is for this reason that Australia has become one of the leading industrial sectors in the world. Below you will find highlighted industries and the impact that they have on Australia's economy.
Agricultural Industry

As you can see from the pie chart pictured above, the agricultural industry is one of the leading industries in Australia. Since day 1 agriculture has always been on of the leading industries that Australians remain dependent upon. As mentioned in the last post, beef and wool remain the two largest contributors to this industry, with beef being the largest export.
Mining Industry
Not only has the mining industry been a large contributor to the economy, but it is also responsible for population growth. The total export of minerals has risen by 21% in the year 2006 as compared to that in 2001.

Aviation Industry
Like most countries, Australia is dependent upon their airports. As a result of this dependency, the aviation industry is growing rapidly. The main units of the civil aviation industry are the international airlines sector, general aviation sector, safety and the domestic regional airlines sector.

Manufacturing Industry
The manufacturing industry is ranked 2nd, after the agricultural industry for contributing most to the economy. The main units that help to make this possible is machinery and equipment, metals, wood and paper and others.
